Jan. 8th, 2010 11:08 amSometimes, in the balmy southern parts of the country, we forget that the Cold is a nasty, horrific predator, feeding off our body heat and draining us of all energy. Despite your preparations, layering, wool coats, and willingness to face the spectre of Winter Weather, we can still feel the Cold gnawing at the edges, trying to slip in through the sleeves and under the coattails, sneak down between the edge of your knit cap and scarf to burn the skin on your face and ears, and ease between your pants and long johns to chill the skin long after you have gotten into a heated room. Cold is a patient and relentless enemy, and banishing it takes more ability than any one person can possess.
Keep warm, folks. The Cold is waiting for you.
