Nov. 25th, 2003 10:09 pmWell, it's been interesting.
I have not crashed on the solo as I thought that I would. Sorry folks, no donuts yet. Although it's gotten close a couple of times.
The system that generates all the letters that go out to all the nice folks out there that get Verizon to make them a Web site has been down since last Wednesday. On Monday, the IT guys informed us that they had no clue why it was acting the way it was and that they had contacted the vendor. Today, I started chewing through four days of Web sites, using a form letter to inform the clients that their sites were ready.
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what a fridge magnet does to an X-ray or metal detector? We put magnets in the envelopes with the letter and a hard copy of the Web site, and I was thinking today that it probably drives the Homeland Defense guys nuts. Part of me is pleased by that.
Anyway, I suspect that we won't have a resolution on this whole thing until after the holiday. Not a big deal, but it does mean that that portion of the work gets more and more lagged. However, the bigger the lag, the better chance of them okaying overtime. Which is both good and bad ... the inherent paradox of overtime -- you get paid extra, but you have to work hours that you wouldn't normally want to work.
Anyways, that's work. Other than that ... Thanksgiving. Gooch has put up a list of what he's thankful for this year. I may do that on Thursday, should I decide to broadcast live from Granna's House. Given the pathetic state of my alma mater's football team (Texas A&M), I may be forced to the back parts of the house to escape the irritating commentary by the football fans in the family. Eh, maybe I can keep the kidlets entertained. They're good kids, for being under the age of 5. I cannot wait until they get older though. Weird Uncle Aaron's gonna corrupt them bad .... "Okay guys, this is Spider Jerusalem. He's your buddy." .... Mwuhahahaha.
Anyway, that's all for now. Stay tuned for further thrilling adventures of Captain Scarlet against the Mysterions.
