There's a geek t-shirt out there with the caption, "There's no place like"

I think they need to make a version that reads, "...Except for ::1." on the back.

Why yes, I'm studying for my Network+ exam. Why do you ask?

Walking past the Trading floor (the big open part of the office where they talk to NYSE, NASDAQ, FINRA, and assorted other financial alphabet soup) this morning, I noticed the news creeper said "Egypt's Mubarik is in poor health...."

I immediately thought, "As opposed to Hoboken's Mubarik...." It was immediately followed by "I really don't think he's Egypt's Mubarik any more. They certainly don't want him."

So, tonight the local PBS station broadcast the Mark Twain Award Ceremony, honoring Bill Cosby as the twelfth winner. The Mark Twain Award is the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts award for humor, and previous winners include Richard Pryor, Jonathan Winters, Carl Reiner, and (last year, posthumously) George Carlin. For almost 90 minutes, comedians and civil rights crusaders all spoke of how Bill Cosby had made his impact on their lives and on American culture, and clips were shown from many of his shows and concerts. Chris Rock and Jerry Seinfeld both spoke of their first encounters with Cosby and how he had helped shape their careers. But for me, this was how I met Bill Cosby:

Try Toshiro Mifune!

I'm down with this. Remember, Toshiro Mifune isn't dead, he's just waiting for a worthy opponent.

Well, THAT was a nice birthday present. Thanks, America. I can't say it's exactly what I wanted, but it certainly isn't something that I already have. I'll have to see if it fits and whether or not it shrinks in the wash.

The folks doing icanhascheesburger.com also do Pundit Kitchen, a LOLPolitics site. It's very funny. By way of example, I offer this picture of Hugo Chavez. Even without the caption, the joke writes itself.

I just heard news that there has been some preliminary work on a sequel to Okami. However, due to the higher cost of ... well, just about everything, there have been a few budget cuts.

(Not really, but I thought it would be funnier than "Ewe Boll announces lead for new movie based on Okami.")

It's referred to as a Duck-Billed Platypus. Are there Goose-Billed Platypus somewhere? Or are their Platypodes* that lack bills? They'd look a little like beavers, except for the whole monotreme reproductive system.

* That's the word; I had this discussion last week.

This thread starts with a funny quote, but the comments just make it so much funnier. Safe for work, unless someone has a problem with commas and profanity.
